Highlights Trustees Celebrated at the March 10 Board Meeting

Our Board gathered this week, and trustees had a lot to celebrate across the division:

  • Trustee Dianna Auer celebrated the new ESD van signage for staff who drive bus routes. Trustees also applauded the success of recent radio campaigns after hearing that five community members reached out about becoming bus drivers.
  • Trustee Auer also celebrated the presentation made by GHS principal Jamie Gilbart, who talked about the deep engagement in learning of students, and how they are confidently participating in classes. Trustees celebrated how this level of engagement reflects strong teaching and meaningful learning experiences.
  • Trustee Gladys Kohler celebrated our Grade 12 Pre‑Calculus results, noting with pride that the division continues to exceed provincial data.
  • Trustee Jillian Yorga emphasized the importance of continuing open, proactive conversations in the community about the mill rate increase. Trustees embraced the message that this increase is an investment in students, and that current student success shows those investments are working.
  • Superintendent Scott Hill reflected on the Board’s four‑year term, and trustees celebrated the tremendous growth happening in our schools; growth made possible through the Board’s ongoing support for:
    • single‑grade classrooms
    • full‑time kindergarten
    • smaller class sizes
    • division‑wide professional learning
    • essential teaching resources, including decodable readers and curriculum materials
Trustees celebrated the alignment between what teachers need and what the Board has invested in… supporting teachers so they can support students.
  • Trustees also celebrated the thoughtful, dedicated work happening in each school, from professional learning to student learning. Hearing these efforts presented together highlighted the incredible instructional leadership happening across the division.
