Evergreen Staff Spotlight

🌟 Celebrating the People Who Make Our Schools Work 🌟

Meet Scott Petrowski – Head Caretaker, Sigurbjorg Stefansson Early School

In just one year with Evergreen School Division, Scott Petrowski has made a meaningful impact as the Head Caretaker at Sigurbjorg Stefansson Early School. A proud graduate of Gimli High School who spent his entire K–12 journey in Evergreen, Scott now finds himself giving back to the very system that helped shape him.

Scott’s connection to education runs deep. “The respect and admiration I have for my past teachers and divisional staff has stayed with me,” he shares. “Seeing those same familiar faces every day showed me the importance of consistency and community.” Today, he brings that same steady presence to the students and staff at SSES.

While many people may think the caretaker’s role is simply about keeping a building clean, Scott sees it as much more. “We all work to make sure students feel safe and heard,” he explains. “From caretakers to principals, we are all part of creating a respectful and supportive environment.”

Scott often reflects on the caretakers he remembers from his own school days. Their consistency and quiet dedication left a lasting impression — one he now strives to model himself. “Those small, consistent actions matter,” he says. “They help build a strong community from the ground up.”

What Scott loves most about working in Evergreen is the sense of purpose and appreciation. “The effort you put into creating the best environment for students and staff is truly valued,” he says. As a father of three young sons in the division, that connection is even more meaningful. “I see firsthand how much staff care and go above and beyond, and I’m proud to be part of that team.”

Scott believes that public education is powered by the people behind it. “Whether it’s caretakers, bus drivers, EAs, teachers, or administrators — everyone plays a role,” he says. “We all share the same goal: putting children first. It’s that teamwork and commitment that helps build a strong future for our students and our community.”

Thank you, Scott, for your leadership, your pride in Evergreen, and for helping create a safe, welcoming environment where students can learn and grow.
