Evergreen Staff Spotlight

🌟 Celebrating the People Who Make Our Schools Work 🌟

Meet Megan Strachan – Student Services & Interventions Teacher and Assistant Principal, Winnipeg Beach School

For the past 14 years, Megan Strachan has been supporting Evergreen students through strong relationships, collaboration, and a deep commitment to student success. This year, she continues that work as part of the Student Services team and as Assistant Principal at Winnipeg Beach School, helping ensure that every student has the support they need to thrive.

Megan’s passion for education began early. “I’ve always loved working with children,” she shares. “That passion really started in high school when I volunteered as a coach. Someone suggested I consider teaching, and it immediately felt like the right fit.” Since then, she has found purpose in helping students grow, learn, and reach their potential.

Much of Megan’s work happens behind the scenes. “Many people don’t realize how much collaboration goes into supporting students,” she explains. “A lot of my time is spent working with teachers, parents, and clinicians to create individualized plans and ensure each student’s needs are met.” This teamwork ensures that students receive consistent, thoughtful support both in and out of the classroom.

The moments that matter most to Megan often come long after students leave her classroom. “Seeing former students again — whether they stop by to visit or I run into them in the community — reminds me why this work matters,” she says. “When they’re excited to share how they’re doing, it reinforces how meaningful those connections are.”

What Megan loves most about Evergreen is the sense of connection. “Our division is genuinely invested in the success and well-being of students,” she says. “Because of its size, there’s real collaboration and people feel heard. Everyone works together to make a difference.”

She also wants the public to know how much staff care. “Teachers, EAs, and support staff put in so much time, effort, and heart. They truly want every student to feel supported and to have the best chance to succeed.”

Thank you, Megan, for your leadership, your compassion, and the difference you make in the lives of Evergreen students and families every day.
