🌟 Celebrating the People Who Make Our Schools Work 🌟
Meet Krystal Isfeld – Assistant Principal, Music Teacher & Literacy Support Teacher at SSES
For 28 years, Krystal Isfeld has been inspiring Evergreen students through music, literacy, and leadership. After graduating from the University of Manitoba in 1997, Krystal began teaching in Evergreen the following year — and has never looked back. Over the years she has taken on many teaching and administrative roles, but one constant has remained: her love for teaching music. For the past 15 years, she has served as Assistant Principal, Music Teacher, and Literacy Support Teacher at Sigurbjorg Stefansson Early School.
Her inspiration is simple but powerful: children and music. “Once I experienced the magic of student teaching in a music classroom, I knew I had made the right decision,” she says. “To be able to share my passion for music and enrich the minds of young people is something I find most fulfilling and inspiring.”
Krystal reminds us that teachers’ work extends far beyond the school day. “Our job does not end at 3:30. Teachers are constantly thinking, planning, reflecting, and implementing the best practices to help our students learn,” she explains.
Her greatest joy comes in small but profound moments: “My greatest gratification comes when a student simply says, ‘Thank you for teaching us.’”
What Krystal loves most about Evergreen is the people. “The students, their families, the staff, the administration, and the board. I love how much Evergreen cares for our students and families, and the commitment to providing the best education possible.”
She is also passionate about what public education makes possible, especially through music. “Our music program introduces students to life-enriching experiences and skills that impact and change lives. Music isn’t just music — it is language, math, art, and emotion. From basic notes and rhythms in kindergarten to orchestral excellence in high school, you can hear and feel the growth, success, and development of our students.”
Thank you, Krystal, for your leadership, your passion for music, and your unwavering commitment to Evergreen students.
