ESD Board Meeting Highlights – December 2, 2025
The Evergreen School Division Board met Tuesday evening to review progress and share exciting updates on student achievement and instructional leadership.
Superintendent Hill presented the Continuous Improvement Report, highlighting dramatic improvements in reading and math across the division. “These results show the hard work of our educators and the success of our strategies,” Hill said.
Trustee Kohler noted the recent correspondence from Manitoba Education regarding Bill 225 on early reading screening, calling it “a strong signal that the province is taking the right steps and supporting the literacy work we are leading.”
Trustee Yorga emphasized that ESD is not waiting for mandated provincial tests. “We’ve created our own benchmarks in the absence of provincial assessments, which allows us to set clear goals for student achievement. We are transparent with our data, and our teachers are actively engaged in professional and leadership development. We are proud of their commitment.”
Trustee Helgason spoke about the dedication of teachers and the positive learning environment in schools. “Our teachers work hard and have an admirable commitment to students. The gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous students in our division is small. Our classrooms are spaces of joy, and our students are thriving—which means our communities will thrive.”
Superintendent Hill also shared that Trustee Helgason is running for Region 3 Director, saying, “This shows that ESD punches above its weight at every level, including our board.”
The meeting underscored ESD’s commitment to student success, equity, and leadership—values that continue to drive progress across the division.
