Budget and Programming Survey
Planning for the 2026–2027 school year budget is underway. While we await the provincial government’s announcement regarding school funding – expected in the coming weeks – our board is working diligently to prepare for the year ahead.
Our current budget / planning intentions include:
- Maintaining and Enhancing Programming
We aim to sustain our existing programs and explore potential enhancements in areas such as elementary level arts/ music and physical activity. We are also committed to improving student attendance and providing additional support for students with complex needs. - Meeting Contractual Obligations
In the coming year we must meet our obligations related to the harmonized province-wide teacher salary grid, and an upcoming contract settlement for support staff. - Mindful Financial Planning
As always, the board will consider the impact of our decisions on local taxpayers while ensuring that students receive the best possible educational opportunities.
Recently, we released our Continuous Improvement Report, summarizing successes and challenges within the priority areas of our 2023–2028 Education Plan. These priorities include:
- Student Achievement: Emphasizing literacy, numeracy, and core subjects.
- Student Well-Being: Supporting social-emotional learning through provincially defined learning behaviours (personal management; social responsibility; active participation).
- Indigenous Education: Advancing inclusive and equitable teaching and learning, treaty education, and Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing.
- Instructional Leadership: Strengthening teaching practices through professional learning, coaching, and leadership development.
