🌿 Trustee Spotlight: Colette Banks – Ward 3
Trustee Colette Banks has proudly served Ward 3 since 2018, bringing a strong belief that everyone has a role to play in building strong communities — and that includes being part of the solution. For Colette, being a trustee is an extension of a lifelong commitment to service and involvement.
Over the years, Colette has volunteered with organizations such as the Red Cross, Winnipeg Beach soccer, the Interlake Soccer Board, Winnipeg Beach Scouts, PAC at Winnipeg Beach School, and the Winnipeg Beach & Lakeside Lions Club. She also played a key role on the planning committee for the Western Canadian Blind Golf Association Championship, which brought the tournament to Gimli.
“Evergreen really listens to what the community needs. I’m proud to be part of a division where the whole team — all staff — are working in the best interests of students.”
Colette is especially proud of Evergreen’s leadership in literacy, and the way staff across the division are spearheading evidence-based work that is now influencing practice across Manitoba.
“I’m proud of the work happening across this division, and I’m proud of the people behind it.”
Two standout moments for Colette include the school walkthroughs, where she loves seeing student learning in action, and the annual staff appreciation night, where trustees recognize the contributions of Evergreen’s dedicated employees.
Looking ahead, she’s excited to see the release of the next Continuous Improvement Report, which reflects the division’s progress and priorities.
📍 Did you know? Colette has lived in the community for over 30 years and raised her children in Evergreen schools — Winnipeg Beach School and Gimli High School.
🎣 Fun fact: When she’s not working as a realtor (yes, that is her face on the billboard!), you’ll likely find her fishing, kayaking, or out on the lake — her favourite place to relax and recharge.
