Principal's Message
September 2025
Hello, Everyone!
Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year at Winnipeg Beach School! Whether you are returning for another year or joining us for the first time, we are excited to have you as part of our school family. My name is Mrs. Raya Charrier and this year is my first year as the principal of WBS and will be my 15th year teaching in the Evergreen School Division. I am very excited to join our students, families, and staff in our learning journey and look forward to a wonderful year ahead of us filled with curiosity, creativity, and the joy of learning.
As I am new here, I thought I'd share a little bit about myself. I am passionate about teaching and learning and helping students see their own strengths and brilliance each and every day. I am also a self-proclaimed "super nerd" and love learning new facts and skills all the time because learning is a lifelong journey! I have also been extensively involved in coaching school and community sports in the Interlake for the past 22 years. Basketball is one of my favourite sports to coach and play! In my spare time I love cooking and baking, listening to audiobooks and podcasts, and spending time with my family. I live with my partner and 2 children on my family's homestead just outside of town and am very proud to call this place my home. My partner is also a teacher in ESD and my children are currently 8 and 4 years old. We love spending time with our extended family and friends, reading books, and travelling.
At WBS, we believe that every child has unique gifts and incredible potential. Our dedicated staff is committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment where students feel encouraged to take risks, challenge themselves, and grow—not only academically, but also socially and emotionally. You'll often hear the phrase, "Take care of yourself, take care of each other, and take care of our space." We strive to live by our core values of kindness, respect, and responsibility, and we celebrate the diversity and strengths each child brings to our community.
This year, students will have opportunities to explore engaging classroom learning, participate in enriching activities, and develop the skills they need to thrive in an ever-changing world. From literacy and numeracy foundations to the arts, athletics, and leadership opportunities, we aim to inspire a love of learning that lasts a lifetime.
We know that education is strongest when schools and families work together. Your involvement—whether through volunteering, attending school events, or simply encouraging learning at home—makes a huge difference. I invite you to stay connected with us through our newsletters, school website, and open communication with teachers and staff.
As we begin this school year, I look forward to meeting each of you, celebrating student successes, and working in partnership to ensure that every child at WBS feels supported and inspired to achieve their very best.
Here’s to a year of growth, discovery, and joy!
Warmly,
Raya Charrier
Principal
