Principal's Message

Hi all, I am so excited to start my new learning journey with our WBS students and families. I thought I would take this opportunity to introduce myself and let you know a little about me. My name is Crystal MacDonald and I have been in education for 20 years. I have been lucky enough to have had some great adventures while teaching our little and not-so little ones.  My passion has always been fostering an inclusive and diverse education for our early and middle years students as I have taught from kindergarten to grade 8. My adventures led me from the west coast of Newfoundland to the high arctic in Resolute Bay, NU and for the past 17 years my husband and I have made our home here in the Interlake. I LOVE the lake, the beach, and this little piece of paradise here next to the water.

When not at school, our three little ones keep us on our toes. They are always ready for adventure! We spend much of our time building with lego and magnetic blocks, reading, playing games, and learning about all things related to dinosaurs. When we're not at home, we love our trips to the beach exploring and looking for treasures.

I am filled with gratitude to be a small part of your child's WBS learning journey. It hasn't taken me long to see the amazing learning that happens here every day. We have a dedicated and caring staff whose first priority is to the learning and well-being of our students. On the first day, when I asked our classes about the great things happening here at WBS, many of our students commented on our school community or as one of our grade 2 students shared "we are all friends here; we care about everyone." So friends, I wish for everyone a year filled with continued learning, happiness and wonder!
