Principal's Message

It is a joy to be part of the SSES community. Our school community is focused on creating a school that gives opportunities to all students. We appreciate the support of parents in working with our staff to create these opportunities. Creating a place that allows for the growth of each child is the core reason we are here.

My Background:

This is my third year as principal at SSES and my 9th overall, with the first 6 years at Riverton Early Middle School. I have an honors degree in History from the University of Waterloo, an Education degree from Lakehead University and a Masters of Education from the University of New Brunswick. 

I was born in Winnipeg but also have spent time living in BC, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Nunavut. This is my 19th year in the Interlake. I have taught at DGJMS, REMS, AEMS and RCI, teaching from grade 3 to 12. 

I have three children, Grayson (8) and Flynn and Fergus (6-year-old twins). At present they all attend SSES and love being part of the community we have all built together, although getting sent to Principal’s office is more complex for them. 

While my experiences have spanned most of the grade levels, I enjoy working with elementary students because of the unbridled joy in learning. Seeing a child who couldn’t read pick up a book and get lost in its story is something that never loses the ability to brighten my day. Shy Kinders slowly blossoming into confident and assured Grade 4s. With your help we allow them to begin to reach their potential and pursue their interests.
