Principal's Message

Welcome to the Sigurbjorg Stefansson Early School (SSES) website.  It is my privilege to be serving as your principal.  SSES is a kindergarten to Grade 3 school within the Evergreen School Division and has approximately 145 students.

As some of you may know, this is a return to SSES for me, as I was fortunate to work here several years ago as a student services teacher.  I have been part of ESD since 2008, with much of my career spent in student services and, more recently, in the principal role at Winnipeg Beach School, before joining SSES as principal in September 2025.  I am so grateful to be back and joining the SSES team once again.  When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, and I especially love to travel and discover new places.  My husband and I have three boys, all of whom are students in ESD, and my husband also works in ESD at Gimli High School.

With many years of experience in student services, my focus in education is on inclusive education for all students - ensuring every child has access to an equitable learning environment that recognizes and nurtures each student's unique gifts and strengths.  SSES is a special place to be.  Our school and community connections are strong, and I look forward to continuing to build and strengthen these important, foundational relationships.  Our young learners bring enthusiasm, joy, and curiosity to school each day, and the SSES team brings out the very best in every child.  Each member of our staff works diligently to ensure that all students are well cared for, supported, and valued.  I am proud to be part of this community and look forward to a wonderful year ahead.
