New Principal Assignments in Evergreen
Evergreen School division is pleased to announce the following new Principal assignments for the school year 2024-2025:
Gimli High School – Jamie Gilbart
Mr. Gilbart has been appointed Principal of Gimli High School beginning in the 2024-2025 school year, following three outstanding years of leadership at Dr. George Johnson School in Gimli. He was previously the principal of Winnipeg Beach School.
Mr. Gilbart promotes a school climate characterized by high expectations for learning, behaviour, and student engagement. He is committed to our education plan priorities for instructional leadership: literacy, numeracy, indigenous education, well-being, and establishing essential learnings and common assessments.
We are grateful to Ms. Leona Groot for her many years of leadership as Principal at Gimli High School and wish her the best in retirement!
Arborg Schools (AEMS and ACI) – Brad Harding
Mr. Harding has been appointed Principal of Arborg Schools (AEMS and ACI) for the school year 2024-2025. Mr. Harding is currently the principal at Arborg Early Middle School, a role he has filled since September of 2006. As Evergreen’s longest-serving principal, he consistently leads by example, building strong relationships with students, teachers, colleagues, and parents, to promote academic excellence. This expanded role will support consistency across the K-12 student trajectory and will situate Mr. Harding to mentor someone in a new Vice-Principal role in 2024-2025. Mr. Harding is committed to our education plan priorities for instructional leadership: literacy, numeracy, indigenous education, well-being, and establishing essential learnings and common assessments.
We are grateful to Ms. Krista Borgfjord for her leadership as Principal at ACI. We wish her all the best with her decision to return to classroom teaching next year!
Dr. George Johnson Middle School, Gimli – Nicole Young
Nicole Young has been appointed Principal of Dr. George Johnson Middle School, effective September 3, 2024. Ms. Young is currently filling the role of resource and interventions teacher at DGJS. Last year, Ms. Young joined Evergreen as a classroom teacher at DGJS after serving as a principal in Prairie Valley School Division in Saskatchewan from 2009 to 2022. Nicole is a high-energy role model with a passion for learning and a dedication to making school a place where we celebrate success with colleagues, students and families. She is committed to our education plan priorities for instructional leadership: literacy, numeracy, indigenous education, well-being, and establishing essential learnings and common assessments.
We are grateful to Jamie Gilbart for his leadership as Principal at DGJS, and wish him the best at Gimli High School next year!
