I Love To Read Month - Week 4

In Evergreen, teaching students to read is the most important thing that we do.  This is because reading is foundational to each student’s trajectory through our schools, and, even more importantly, because it is foundational to our mission to engage students in learning to become contributing citizens of a democratic society.

There is substantial research evidence that indicates reading proficiency by the end of grade 3 significantly improves the likelihood of high school graduation. 

Research evidence also reveals important connections between literacy skills and participation in community, enhanced socio-economic and employment outcomes, overall positive health outcomes, and longer life expectancy. 

We are pleased to offer information to parents about literacy development through our Parent Pages,  which are published annually during I Love to Read month (February), and are relevant all year round!
