Happy New Year!!

Our next meeting will be held on: January 21, 2016, from 7:00 – 8:15 p.m. in the WBS Library. All new and returning faces are welcome!PAC.jpg

  • A reminder to send any necessary lunch cutlery with your child as needed.  The school is not responsible for providing eating utensils.
  • A reminder to please phone the school office (389-2176) before 9:00 a.m. if your child is going to be away that day.
  • A reminder that if end of the day arrangements change for your child, you need to call the office before 3:00 p.m.  There is often too much happening at the end of the day to ensure your message is passed on if you call later than that.

Our next fun lunch will be held on: Friday, January 22, 2016. Forms will go home January 8, 2016 and are due back January 14, 2016.

During the month of February schools across Canada celebrate reading.  We will be planning special activities for our students.  More details will be coming home at the end of the month.

Winter weather has definitely arrived and with it comes the necessity for dressing appropriately.  Please ensure your child comes to school with winter boots, warm coat (wear layers if possible), ski pants, mitts, and a hat.  All students must go out for activity breaks and activity breaks are a whole lot more enjoyable if you are warm!!!!

Indoor footwear rules are now in effect for all students.  This means all students must have outdoor footwear (boots) and indoor footwear.  Upon entry all students must remove their outdoor footwear before proceeding down the hallway.  This helps to keep our hallways clean and dry.

When the temperature reaches -40°C, or -45°C with wind-chill, Evergreen School Division will make the decisions regarding school closure.  Listen to your radio and/or check the School or Division's website. If the temperature is colder than -27°C with or without wind-chill, the principal will make the decision regarding indoor recesses.

Student entry is at 8:50 am. Supervision is provided on the playground starting at 8:35am. The only students in the building before the 8:50 bell are early bus students that arrive at 8:15am and then head outside at 8:35 am. When you drop your children off, they need to head to the back playground. We do not provide "babysitting services" in the front lobby. If the temperature is -27 degrees or colder, we will invite them inside at 8:35am / as they arrive. Thank you for your understanding.

Our Breakfast Program relies on the generosity of the local community and is very well supported. Each day between 20 – 40 children pop in for a well - balanced, nutritious beginning to their day. The menu follows Canada's Food Guide and is built around the four food groups. We also offer a snack option for later in the day – usually a fruit or granola bar. All students are welcome; participation is not restricted. We believe that all students benefit from this program.

January 18 - 22, 2016 is Milk Week at WBS. Students will be participating in a bunch of milk related activities over the week. Prizes are provided by the Dairy Farmers of Manitoba. More information will be sent home this month.Milk.jpg
